Photo-A-Day >> June 2012

O, what a month full of activities when the mid-year school holiday rolled in! The boys kept me busy at home and I scrapped lesser than usual.  Nonetheless, with them around, we channelled our time to other fun activities such as cycling, baking, visited the Sciene Centre to witness the transition of Venus, 2 days out at Sentosa, watched Madagascar movie, attended two 2 hours workshops (making cake-pops and making Mexican Pinata) with the boys at the Community Club, visited Garden by the Bay and I have had the chance to meet up with my friends over lunch and dinner sessions.

It was a fruitful month indeed :)

Back to my P-A-D, as usual, I was looking for idea for how to decorate my layouts. Thank God for the right timing that, I was trying out my newly purchased circle cutter and with the first few cut out circles, I thought why not to use it as a daily photo mat cum journalling piece, instead of my past months' style. Thus, I cut 30 circles and of course, took the opportunity to practice the cutting skill and explore the tool further.

For the title, I used stickles to write the Chinese characters of June and the date range :)

Here are the layouts:

My younger boy saw me hand-stitching the border of the Part 2 layout and asked if he could try, and here's the answer:

After his attempt, he commented that this was his first time using a needle to sew and happily, he went to Grandma to tell her about it.

My heart smiled too, that I gave him a chance to try it out, with supervision of course. Well, just a simple 'yes' from me had made the boy and me happy :)

Thank you for visiting and have a blessed day ahead :)

Photo-A-Day >> May 2012

Hi... I was late this round in getting my P-A-D completed. With the kids at home during this May/Jun school holiday, my scrap time is lesser.

As I was ransacking for inspiration on how to decorate the small space of the page, I chanced upon a magazine that suggested some school holiday activities with the kids, and one of it was hand-painting. Hmm... May=5=5 fingers! Praise God for this idea :)

So we embarked on an hour fun of hand-painting and trying out different designs & colors on the palm and fingers and finally, the three of us were happy with the result.

Still loving Amy Tangerine's(AT)stuff, I incorporated them into the space and stamped Technique Tuesday AE stamp onto the AT's frames. I added a small bit of hand-stitching too (hee...can you find them?). And not forgetting the washi tapes which had territorised the daily cells, lol :)

OMG! I had forgotten to snap photo of 3 days, which were represented by the 'oops', 'argh' and 'zzz'.

That’s all for the P-A-D. Here's sharing a photo of a pretty butterfly resting on a fern leaf, isn't it gorgeous? (Photo taken at the Butterfly Park @Sentosa)

Thank you for visiting and have a blessed lovely day ")

3-in-1 Challenges

Ooh, 3-in-1 challenges! This is my first time participating in 3 challenges using 1 layout. I have been joining Made With Love (MWL) challenges and twice in Lily Bee Design challenges, using different layouts.

This round, besides the regular MWL's fun, I chanced upon Lily Bee's sketch and at the same time, when I was viewing Juanna's layout from MWL gallery, I visited her blog and it mentioned Scrap With V's inspiration challenge.

I have never attempted any inspirational challenge, especially based on colors palette, hence I decided to give it a go.

Here are the respective criteria:
  - Scrap a 12 x 12 layout (no digital)
  - Show at least 1 circular shape and any bird image (papers, cut outs, or stamps)

2)Lily Bee Design 'Sketch Challenge #9' hosted by Patricia Roebuck:
  - Your layout must use at least two Lily Bee products.

3)Scrap With V's May Inspirational Challenge' hosted by Julianne:
  - Draw inspiration from this palette:

With the above in mind, here's my humble piece:

Here's the story of creation of this layout:
I found the above three photo which their colors matched so well to the inspiration palette.

So I started the layout by selecting Lily Bee's pattern papers (pp) that matched to the color palette. I die-cut circular shapes using the pp and did a rub-on bird image to fulfil MWL Liana's requirements.

Here are Lily Bee's pattern papers (pp) and alphabets:

Buttercup, Rain pp:

Victoria Park, Grand Theatre pp:

Harvest Market, Pumpkin Seeds pp:

Harvest Market, ABC stickers:

I drew inspiration from the items in the lime hues palette - the leaves and the green+pale yellow flower (as shown below) somehow relates to the lime with leaves. This little cluster was done to match Lily Bee's sketch too:

I was pleased with this God-dropped little inspiration: the pumpkin seeds pp were punched and cut out as part of the banner. The colors of the tiny hearts and the 2 ribbons were to adhere to the color palette:

The title was made using Lily Bee's ABC stickers which were pasted onto ice-cream sticks and I lightly painted the stick with some gesso.

That's what I had done and indeed it was a 3-in-1 fun!

Today is Mother's Day and here's sharing a picture found from Pinterest. I love the wordings. To all the wonderful Mommies: God bless you richly with His strength and favours as you nurture your little ones. Blessed Mother's Day :)

Thank you for visiting and have a Blessed day :)

Photo-A-Day >> April 2012

April – What a pretty name for a month and perhaps for a lady too :)
My April PAD layouts are done with the intention of having a border around the page by using stamps, stamp pads and washi tapes that I have recently purchased, and to make it simple.
My heart said to use Technique Tuesday Ali Edwards ‘Hello Routine’ stamps:

However, when my eyes looked at them, they are all near-oval shapes and I frowned. But hey, God dropped me a little idea – break them! Haha, not to physically do so, but to stamp and use half of it only. Voila! I love the border result – the ‘Hello Routine’ is now nicely splitted into half using the blue and pink color. What do you think?

For part 2 of the PAD, I wanted to adopt the same theme, and I screened through the same set of stamps. I knitted my brows once again. Which stamp is suitable to do a border?
This round, I looked at them a different perspective – pick the words that are applicable. There it goes, the ‘everyday’ and ‘life’ from 2 stamps.  Yay, I am happy with the outcome again!

As I used white cardstock for the background of both, I filled up the white space of each day’s cell by random stamping with the entire block of matching distress ink. Lastly, the other sides of the borders are laid with washi tapes.
That’s all for the PAD. Here's sharing a scenery Clouds@Sky on 26 Apr 2012, 6.30am. It resembled a hedgehog vs a dragon. Just my imagination :)

Thank you for visiting and have a blessed lovely day.

Scrap This n That Challenge #11

This is my layout created to join the Made With Love (MWL) "Scrap This n That Challenge #11", hosted by Carol. The criteria:

~
Use 5 or more photos on 12x12 layout. The photos can be of any size, any orientation, any subject.
Here's my layout that I have uploaded @MWL gallery:

For the background, I used Amy Tangerine’s Sketchbook Saffron Study pattern paper:

This collection of PP is very beautiful and cheery, just by looking at them made my heart smiles! I have been using Instagram to snap daily pictures and I like to put in as many pictures as possible into a layout to tell a little story. Hence, this challenge is good for me - I used 6 instagram photo taken at Woodlands Waterfront.
A few loves:
1)Used the Magenta Musings PP to die cut a rosette (added a little bit of MWL orange washi tape to it to match the background paper color) and overlapped one of the flower which was pre-printed on the PP. Then I gently splattered distress stain as leaves.

2)Used the Carmine Collage PP to die cut a tag and stamped on it using Technique Tuesday/Ali Edwards ‘Kids are Cool’ stamp – ‘Go Out and Play’.

3)Used distress stains on Studio Calico Huey’s mask Chevron.
Looking at the completed layout made me satisfied and happy :) Does it look good to you too ? :)
That's for now. Thank you and have a blessed day.

Thank You tag

This is my first time dressing up a tag. I have been working on layouts, a couple of cards and altered items. This round, I thought to do a thank you tag to give to someone in return of her generosity to share.

I have no exact idea how am I going to decorate it, except to use the word 'Thank You' and to incorporate washi tapes, erm...my recent product craze, lol.

As I progress, I refer to my available stocks and gradually added embellishments and mediums (distress stickles/crackle paint/stain).

To tie the tag, I used colourful bakers twines and pleated them. Voila! I am done and I am happy with the result - cheery & colourful!

Finally, my boy and I went to the bookshop to get it mail off. I hope it brings a pleasant little surprise to the recipient and she will like it.

Thank you for visiting and have a blessed day.

Photo-A-Day >> March 2012

This is my third month's attempt on PAD project. In fact, as the project is named, it is meant to be one photo per day. Nonetheless, for me, I have more than a photo for some of the days, as these days were more eventful. Conclusion: I have more than 31 photos per month and for March Part 2, I could feel the weight of the LO when I first lifted it up when it was completed, Lol :)

For this month, I used washi tapes and paper clips as my decoration. I embedded washi under the word 'March'. For the grid, instead of using twines (for Jan & Feb PAD), I used tapes too, and the rest were as shown.

My collection of washi tapes shot up from a small box to 2 Daiso boxes. Guessed I was kinda inspired by Pooi's vast love of washi. Also, I was blessed to receive 4 rolls of washi and a tag from Pooi's RAK giveaway and I used it for my project. Thanks Pooi :)

This is Part 1 of the PAD, March 1-14:

This is Part 2, March 15-31:

Here's sharing what I was reminded this morning. And I had casted one area of concerns to my DaddyGod for Him to take care of it. I know that all will be well in His hands:

Lastly, sharing a pic of beautiful sky scenery here. Clouds@Sky on 3 Apr 2012, 6pm:
